We tell you all about the vital role of data stewardship and the dedicated data stewards who make it all possible. It's incredibly encouraging to see the potential for collaboration in unlocking the power of FAIR research data. That's going to transform projects and institutions across the board! In this context, local networking among data stewards is key to integrating and meeting the needs of research projects. On a wider scale then, there is a community of data stewards growing rapidly and their mission is to professionalise data stewardship across the country.
Where is the data? Or to put it another way, how FAIR is your data? This year's LDW motto is the perfect prompt for a discussion with our data stewards. What does 'FAIR' mean?
Atinkut Zeleke will give a talk on FAIR Metric in the context of NFDI4Health. He will address the need for a FAIR data infrastructure in health research, as well as sharing his experience of implementing FAIR in healthcare contexts. Drawing on the experience of NFDI4Health, he will present the 'recipes' used to develop FAIR metrics for automated FAIR assessment, and share the key lessons learned for scalable implementation.
Robert Keßler will give a talk on Reproducibility of scientific results in higher education: An empirical report from computer science. Reproducibility of scientific results is a topic that should be introduced to early-stage researchers and students as early as possible. For this reason, the Chair of Parallel and Distributed Systems offers a seminar for computer science students in which they can gain initial practical experience in this area. This presentation will report on the experiences gained so far and the hurdles that need to be overcome.

Final. SuperFinal. MegaFinal. Who isn't familiar with these amusing superlatives used to name final and finaler versions of important documents, which then no one can tell apart anymore? Join me in being too lazy to search and let yourself be inspired to create and document file names and folder structures in such a way that both your future self and third parties with whom you may want to collaborate can find their way around your data now and in the future.

This workshop aims at showing how Open Science practices can enhance research's impact/visibility and credibility. This will be achieved by introducing the concept of and tools for preregistration as well as by introducing and fostering understanding of journal and funding requirements for Open Science. These first glimpses into OS as well as tools and tips serve to empower participants to (at least) think of integrating Open Science into their projects.
If we have the authors' data, surely we can get the same results?! Challenges in the reproducibility of linguistics studies | Dr.'in Elen Le Foll, Ali Yildiz, Marie Klünter

While data sharing undoubtedly helps to improve the reproducibility of published research, this session shows that it is far from a silver bullet. We report on our attempts to reproduce the results of recent quantitative linguistics publications using the authors' original data. We report on challenges that highlight recurring reproducibility issues, setting the stage for a discussion on the (lack of) incentives, recurring problems, and potential solutions for improving the reproducibility of quantitative research in the humanities and social sciences. This session is organised in collaboration with ReproducibiliTea in the HumaniTeas (sign up to the mailing list to find out more).

git.nrw is a pilot project of the state of NorthRhine-Westphalia. This GitLab instance combines classic versionand code management with integrated project managementfunctions. Issues, milestones and a Kanban board enable theplanning and tracking of tasks in research and teachingprojects. At the same time, it provides CI/CD pipelines thatautomate builds, tests and deployments. In our course, we show several practical examples, e.g. how to assign a DOI to the research project in the repository via Zenodo so that the data can be found and cited in the long term.

Audiovisual research data, including audio and video recordings, transcriptions and annotations, are becoming increasingly important in the humanities, from linguistics and musicology to ethnology and oral history. The Cologne Language Archive (LAC) is a CTS-certified digital repository dedicated to the long-term preservation and accessibility of audiovisual language data for research, education and cultural heritage purposes. KA3OS is the current project to develop the technical infrastructure behind the LAC.
This presentation traces the development of the LAC and introduces the KA3OS project, a collaboration between the Institute of Linguistics (IfL), the Data Centre for the Humanities (DCH) and the IT Centre of the University of Cologne (ITCC). The project builds on many years of collaboration in the management of linguistic research data at the University of Cologne. KA3OS aims to consolidate the work already done in previous projects, ensure the long-term preservation and accessibility of valuable research data, and consolidate the University of Cologne's position as a leading institution in linguistic research.
